Roon, if you want the richest music browsing there is, you listen in more than one room, and you're happy to keep an always-on machine and a subscription running to get it.

What Roon does better
We'd rather tell you here than have you find out after paying.
- Editorial metadata. The credits, biographies and related-artist browsing are Roon's whole reason for existing, and nothing here matches it. If following connections around your library is the point, buy Roon.
- Multi-room. Roon drives many rooms in sync, over a protocol built for exactly that. We play to one Windows machine.
- Platforms. Roon runs on macOS and Linux. We're Windows x64 only, and there's no Mac version.
- Track record. Roon has years of releases behind it. We're new, and we're one person. Weigh that.
What you get here instead
- You pay once. Founder pricing is a one-time purchase, and it's never a subscription. The pricing is on the home page.
- Nothing to run. No Core, no always-on server, no separate control app. It's one Windows program, and it starts when you start it.
- Playback is never gated. There's no account, and your library plays on the free tier forever, with no ads and no tracking.
