What the online lookups send
When you use Super-Tag, fetch cover art, or fetch lyrics, Vesari Stylus asks a public music database for help - and it sends only what's needed to identify that one track, nothing more.
By default the app doesn't reach out to the internet about your music at all. The lookups below are the exception, and they happen only when you ask for them - when you run Super-Tag on a track, fetch artwork, or fetch lyrics. They're one track at a time, on demand. Your library as a whole, your play history, and your listening habits never go out.
What actually gets sent
Each kind of lookup sends just enough to match one track:
- Super-Tag (auto-tagging) - to identify a track, the app queries MusicBrainz and, when you use fingerprint matching, AcoustID. It sends either the track's existing tags (title, artist, album, length) or a short acoustic fingerprint - a compact numeric summary of how the audio sounds - along with the track's length. It does not upload the audio file itself.
- Cover art - the app searches MusicBrainz for a matching release (by artist and album name) and pulls the image from the Cover Art Archive, with a fallback image source if needed.
- Lyrics - the app asks LRCLIB using the track's title, artist, album, and length to find matching plain or time-synced lyrics.
- CD track details - when a disc is in the drive, the app looks up its table of contents to find the album and track listing.
That's the whole payload: the bits that name or fingerprint the one track you're working on.
What is never sent
- Your full library, folder layout, or how many tracks you own.
- What you play, when, how often, or your ratings - none of that leaves your machine.
- Your name, email, or any account details. There is no account.
- The audio files themselves.
Nothing is kept about you
These are public databases answering an anonymous question. The lookups aren't tied to any identity, and nothing is stored about you on the other end - there's no profile of your taste being built anywhere. When a lookup returns a result, the tags, artwork, or lyrics are written into your own local files and database, on your machine.
You stay in control
Every one of these lookups is something you trigger. If you never run Super-Tag, never fetch artwork, and never fetch lyrics, the app makes none of these calls. It plays your music entirely offline until you choose to reach out.
