Rediscovery - surface music you forgot
Your Home screen quietly resurfaces music from your own library - records you loved and drifted away from, things you've never played, and what you're leaning on right now - so good listening doesn't get buried.
Rediscovery is built entirely from your listening - see How it stays private below. The shelves and the one-tap Mix are free for everyone. Saving a mix as a playlist is a paid unlock, with a taste during the trial.
The shelves
When you have some listening history, a Rediscover section appears on Home with a set of shelves. Each is drawn from a different corner of your habits:
- Forgotten favourites - things you used to play a lot, now gone quiet. Each shows a gentle reminder like "Last played 6 months ago".
- On this day - what you were listening to on this same date in a past year.
- New & still unheard - albums and tracks you added but never actually pressed play on.
- Heavy rotation - what you've been playing most lately.
- Back in rotation - older favourites you've recently started reaching for again.
You'll only see the shelves that have something to show. An empty shelf simply doesn't appear, and if you're brand new with no history yet, the whole section stays hidden until there's something worth surfacing - no empty prompts.
Play a shelf
Every shelf plays in a click or two.
- Find the shelf you want on the Home screen.
- Use the shelf's Play control to start it in order, or Shuffle to mix it up.
- To start from one particular record, select its cover - playback begins there and continues through the rest of the shelf.
The one-tap Mix
At the top of the Rediscover section there's a Rediscover Mix button. Select it and the app blends a fresh set drawn from a few of the shelves - a handful of buried gems, a few things from this day, some you've never played - and starts playing straight away. A short line tells you honestly what went into it.
If there's not enough history to build one yet, it'll say so rather than playing an empty mix.
Save a mix you like
When a Mix is playing, a Save mix control appears next to the button.
- Select Save mix.
- The app saves it as a playlist, named for the day you made it, so you can find it again.
- From then on it lives in your playlists like any other - rename it or reorder it however you like.
The Mix itself changes each time you build one, so saving is how you keep a version you enjoyed.
Saving is the one part of Rediscovery that draws on an allowance: it is a paid unlock, with a taste of 30 saved mixes during the trial, while playing a Mix stays free for everyone. See What the free allowance covers.
How it stays private
Every shelf and every Mix is worked out entirely on your own device, from your local play history. The app never, on its own, sends anything about what you listen to anywhere - there's no cloud service behind this, no tracking, and no account. The recommendations are yours alone, and they get better the more you listen, because the record of that listening stays on your computer.
